Part of my daily practice is noticing joyful things around me. When I remember to stop and look, I’m quickly filled up with how rich my life is. Getting off of devices (yes, the one I’m typing this on!) is the first step. Everywhere I look this week I am seeing things that make me happy.
Like Venus and the crescent moon, which almost looks full in this photo. The trees, oh the shapes of trees in winter against winter skies is one of my most favorite things in this world.
The view out my bedroom window. A winter morning with evergreens, the bones of trees, a blue sky, and two supremely handsome fellows. This is how close they are to me and I love it so much.
Whenever I walk I look up and I always find something I love up there. This was early today when the fog was thick closer to the ground and the way the crowns of the trees are speaking to one another with that wonderful curve of sweetgum in the foreground caught me up to a high place.
All week and part of last, this little bird sits on the peak of the roof outside my office window. As I see clients, listen and talk and do EMDR sets, he sits there, flies away and returns, grooms himself, and occasionally looks in at me. My daughter says he’s a phoebe. The phoebe symbolizes transformation, rebirth, and renewal. I am completely smitten.
I have a seasonal nature walk which I capture on video, and a Zoom meeting for paid subscribers to share conversation about the upcoming winter solstice. Consider joining me on December 21st for this!
Yes joy is all around!
Love your post but might I add, when you don’t see joy make some. That checker in Walmart always needs a dose of joy. Now I send it to each of you. Go bring a checker some joy!
