Yesterday morning I read Lucille Clifton’s moving poem and I’m thinking still of all the boats that keep me on top of the water.
Avocado toast at Foster’s and a gorgeous photo of an owl taken by my daughter on a day we were together enjoying the adventure of wildlife photography.
Two young children laughing with and loving their dad, safe and allowed to be all of who they are, without manipulation or expectation.
Cheese grits with eggs for breakfast, thanks to my husband.
Early mornings when I get to write.
Sunshine through bare tree branches backed by a blue sky.
A tiny perfect octopus made by a dear friend.
The OkGo song and video “The One Moment.”
My “happy shrine.”
blessing the boats
may the tide
that is entering even now
the lip of our understanding
carry you out
beyond the face of fear
may you kiss
the wind then turn from it
certain that it will
love your back may you
open your eyes to water
water waving forever
and may you in your innocence
sail through this to that
