Last weekend my grandchildren were here with their dad and as they were leaving I noticed the first two daffodils had bloomed that same day.
I immediately assigned meaning to this little moment of joy, and showed them the flowers, “one for each of you,” I said.
Now every time I look up to these spring beauties I feel my entire body bloom with joy.
We can do this. We can make meaning in small joys. We can shift our entire state in a moment’s time. And if we build a habit of doing this we become more resilient in facing the hard things we can’t change.
